FR386 Forest Ranger

More of my personal project while I continue to look for work.

I've included some sketches below showing my method of brainstorming for this character.  After writing down an initial character description of a feisty little granny who is a forest ranger, I looked up inspirational and reference images to use while exploring what she might look like.  

My first page was pretty much a free-for-all where any idea goes.  I'm trying to find shapes and personality which embody my ideal for this character.

I started my second page of explorations after looking up more inspirational images.  My feisty little granny character still wasn't looking stylized and feisty enough.  You can tell which design I finally settled on.  Even though I was pretty sure #3 was going to be the one, I pushed past her just to explore other options to see what else I could find.  

Sometimes when finding something I like, it doesn't happen all the time, but often enough, if I push it even further, I can find other designs which go beyond what I was expecting, which I like even better.
